Fees
What it costs, in full.
Tuition for the Barcelona site is set and invoiced by CMStep. This page is the complete schedule — every fee, when it falls due, what it covers and what it does not — so that nothing arrives as a surprise at enrolment.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Enrollment feeAt application — includes the application fee, AMS and MACTE adult-learner fees and access to the online prerequisite courses. Non-refundable. | €800 |
| Additional location feeAt application — for training at the Barcelona site. | €300 |

| Total | €10,200 |
When it falls due
Two payments.
The enrolment fee and the location fee — €1,100 together — are paid when you apply, and they are not refundable. They cover the application itself, the AMS and MACTE adult-learner fees, and your access to the online prerequisite courses that make up the pre-training. Tuition and materials — €9,100 — fall due by the first day of coursework.
If paying in one sum is difficult, say so. Payment plans are available: ask on the interest form, or write directly to CMStep at office@cmstep.com.
What the fee covers
Included, and not.
Included
- All academic coursework, online and in person
- Books and materials, except those set for reading before Summer I
- Practicum support: two in-person site visits and one extended video consultation
- Room and board for the overnight portions of the Erdkinder experience
Not included
- Books set for reading before Summer I coursework
- Travel, and room and board for the Barcelona residencies and the fall intensive
- Graduate credit through Xavier University, if you choose to take it
- Extension fees, as set out in the CMStep handbook
The residencies
Travel and stay are yours to arrange.
The fee does not include travel to Barcelona or accommodation for the nineteen residency days — eleven one summer, three that autumn, five the summer after. Sarrià is a quiet residential neighbourhood in the upper part of the city, a short train ride from Plaça de Catalunya, with plenty of places to stay nearby. Once the residency calendar is confirmed in November, we share a list of suggestions with everyone who has asked.
The overnight portions of the Erdkinder experience are the exception: room and board for those nights are included in the fee.
Sponsorship
If your school is paying.
Many participants are sponsored by their school, in whole or in part. Tell us on the interest form who will be paying, and the reply will explain what can be invoiced to the school and how the schedule above can be arranged around it.
Schools in the European Union should also ask their Erasmus+ coordinator. The residency days are structured training abroad of the kind that Erasmus+ staff mobility can help fund — usually the travel and the stay, sometimes part of the course fee.
Euros and dollars
Same programme, one currency here.
Fees for the Barcelona site are quoted on this page in euros; cmstep.com shows its programmes in US dollars. The programme and the provider are the same. If you are comparing the two, ask us and we will walk you through the difference — the location fee, for one, is already counted in the total above.
Also worth knowing
Two costs that sit outside the fee.
Graduate credit toward a master’s degree is available through Xavier University; participants who take it meet that cost separately. And if two years turn out not to be enough and you need an extension, the fees for it are set out in the CMStep handbook.
Next
Ask before you decide.
The interest form takes three minutes and commits you to nothing. Tell us where you teach and who might pay, and the reply will include the outline, the pacing guide and the current cohort dates.
